When I was growing up we never had a real tree, we only had artificial trees. B on the other hand always grew up with a real tree. So naturally once we had Mason we started making an annual trip to a Christmas Tree Farm. Mason’s first time going to a Christmas tree farm was the first time I had ever been as well. Four years later and I couldn’t imagine getting a fake tree ever again. Not only do real trees smell amazing but the experience of getting that tree can’t be beat. The kids always have blast searching for the perfect tree. I of course use it as a chance to take the “perfect” picture.
This year we went to the Christmas tree farm two days in a row, the first day we picked our tree and the second day we went with Mason’s school and learned all about the different types of trees on the farm and the bugs and critters you can find in the trees. It was super cool for us to learn about. Our Christmas Tree Farm sold 1,400 trees alone the weekend we visited. How awesome is that? We also learned about how they plant a tree for every tree that is sold which I thought was awesome. I love that real Christmas Trees are a renewable resource.
Searching for the perfect tree is the best part of our trip. We go up and down each row for hours.
My favorite part of our entire trip is always the moment we find and cut our tree down. Watching Mason and B work together to get the tree down is so fun.
Mason is always so triumphant once he’s finished. It’s so sweet.
Now that I’m on my 5th year of fresh trees I’ve learned even more about what I need to do to take good care of our tree to make sure it’s lasts us through New Years Day, when we typically take it down. If you’ve never gotten a real tree before then you’ll need a few tips.
