This year marked the first time I had a child in school full time. Mason had been in preschool for two years prior but this was different. This was 5 days a week, 5 days a week where he would spend more time with strangers than he would with his family. It was rough. When he broke his arm it became a little rougher. Throughout the last couple of months I have been pleasantly surprised. Every time I interact with his teachers I’m happy with it. I never walk away feeling uneasy about the care my little guy is getting while I’m not with him.
With the holiday season upon us and our next little one due in January it’s made me want to think ahead about all the things that need to be done. Not just with the baby but also with the holiday season. My to-do list seems endless. I really wanted to think ahead about a holiday gift idea for teachers, Mason’s teachers to be exact. I have a lot of friends who are teachers and while they are beyond appreciative of all the gifts they receive from students I *know* that one can only have so many “Best Teacher” ornaments, mugs and picture frames. So instead I wanted to go with something useful. I tried to think of things that all teachers need, things they never want to run out of. So what dose a teacher never want to run out of? Judging by my own home I know that Kleenex Tissues are high on that list. Pencils? Check! Cleaning Supplies? ALWAYS.
Can we talk about the basket for a second? I’m obsessed with the rustic look and I loved the size. It’s perfect for setting on a desk and restocking whenever you need too. I included Kleenex® Ultra soft tissues, homemade household cleaner, a reusable cloth and a tin to hold pencils. Instead of the pencils you could do more re-usable cloths. I almost got the anti-viral tissues but decided extra soft for little noses was important. I included the pencils for a fun festive touch, I also loved the idea of the pencils because students who needed one could just come on up and grab it! You can make the gift even more festive by using the winter Kleenex tissues.
I chose all of these items especially because it’s something that every teacher needs and since they’re constantly buying their own supplies for their classroom my hope was that this would alleviate some of that burden (I’m giving extra tissues separately to really help).
I also thought it would be great to include a gift card so they can put it towards whatever they need–something for them or something for the classroom!
