Disclosure: I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for AmericanExpress Serve. I applied for the Serve Cash Back card to facilitate my review and received a promotional item to thank me for my participation
A couple of weeks ago I talked to you all about how I needed to revamp my budget and get it back on track. How I need to curb what I was spending and really pay attention to where my money has been going. I mentioned that I was using a budget sheet, good ole fashioned pen & paper and the American Express Serve Cash Back card to help me do these things. Now that it’s been a couple of weeks I want to give you all an update on how it’s been going.
After all was said and done I figured out that when it comes to random things that I haven’t budgeted for I have about $250. Starting this month that $250 went on an American Express Serve Cash Back card and for all of my purchases that weren’t budgeted for I used that card. I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks now and I absolutely LOVE this new method. There is an app that goes along with it so I can easily check what my balance is. I check the balance frequently so I can know where I stand. If I have money left over it rolls into the next month which is great because on my “good” months where I don’t have a lot of extra wants I can “bank” some money. This month won’t be one of those months because I got my kids a pass to the children’s museum. We’ve only gone twice this month but we’re well on our way to getting our money’s worth for that purchase especially once this baby gets here in January!
Another thing I mentioned in my post was finding a printable that works well for you. I found a few that I liked but not one that I LOVED so I had printable budget worksheet created. Check out this pretty:
In case this one works for you too you can find the entire printable and download it here.
The best part about using the American Express Serve Cash Back card besides the fact that it’s helping me keep my budget on track is that it’s the only prepaid debit card to offer 1% cash back. Which means I’m earning money back for my every day purchases! The cash back is added to your account right after your purchase is made and ready to spend when you choose to do so.
If you want to try out this budgeting method you can register online. You’ll get a prepaid card in the mail and there are no credit checks when you sign up so no worries there. You can use it so much like your normal debit card by getting things direct deposited into your account and linking it to your bank account so you can make transfers between the two accounts which makes budgeting even easier.
As a perk you’ll get 24/7 customer service from American Express, exclusive access to special offers, purchase protection and a roadside assistance hotline.
