Since we’ve arrived in New York I haven’t had just two kids to think about, I’ve had four kids to think about. Luke and Ava my youngest brother and sister are just 9 and 7. My mom works nights so she’s usually sleeping during the day which isn’t easy when she has so many kids running around the house. So I’ve been trying my hardest to keep the kids occupied, we send them outside to play and jump on the trampoline, bring them to the park and do fun activities with them.
One of those activities have been making ice pops! It’s so easy to get them involved in this process and it teaches them about patience in the process! It’s been a tough lesson to swallow though because they have been way too excited about them. I could barely grab the pictures for this post without little tiny hands reaching in to grab the pops.
These are super simple to make. We ran to Walmart and grabbed Yoplait® Original Red Raspberry, French Vanilla and Blueberry 6oz containers. The only other thing you’ll need is ice pop molds. No ice pop molds? Paper cups and wooden sticks will work just fine too!
We got two ice pop molds that fit about 3oz each. We should have gotten one more because we did have some left over that the kids happily devoured. It worked out well since they had to wait for the actual frozen pops! We wanted the colors to be Red, White and Blue since 4th of July is right around the corner so we started with the Red Raspberry yogurt.
Then layered the white aka Vanilla.
Finally we layered the Blue portion aka Blueberry yogurt!
Final step was putting the tops on. The kids got a huge kick out of this part for some reason. It was cracking me up!
There is no perfect science to this which is what I love about it. They’re super simple to make and it doesn’t matter if one layer is bigger than the other. It takes about 2 1/2 hours for them to freeze. The longer you leave them the better!
We’ll be making more of these in the next couple of weeks! I’ve already dream up a whipped vanilla peanut butter yogurt pop that I can’t wait to make and share! COMING SOON!
