I’m what they call a Birth Junkie. It’s why I became a Doula. I couldn’t stop thinking about birth. I devoured anything and everything that I could get my hands on. It wasn’t long before I realized that it was more than being interested, it was more than going through it myself. I enjoyed it, I wanted to be immersed in it.
Watching pregnancy journeys and reading birth stories are one of my favorite things to do. I was so excited to hear about the 40 Weeks Documentary.
40 Weeks by Big Belli follows the journey of numerous women and their families as they navigate pregnancy from their positive pregnancy test to the day they give birth. It was beautiful watching their stories and at times had me in tears. It was so nice to see families from all different walks of life experience pregnancy and see how even though they were all different they experienced similar things throughout their journey.
They also included commentary from doctors and nurses to help explain what was going on throughout the pregnancy.
I was super excited because they even brought up Doulas and how helpful we can be!
40 Weeks Screening
The film’s creators have partnered with Gathr, which provides a unique way to get screenings in your area! Just go here and sign up to hold a screening or be notified if one is coming to your area. Screenings will only be held if you have a certain amount of people who have committed to attending by reserving tickets. Luckily Big Belli and Gathr will help you in reaching out to your friends, family and community so everyone including you can enjoy the movie!
If you’re in a Doula Collective or have a local pregnancy and birth group it would be great to share with them (that’s what I plan on doing)
You’ll be able to see updates that show the number of current reservations and the reservations needed to be able to get a screening in your area and how much longer you have until the screening request expires.
