For the last four years B and I have had a coffee table that used to be in my Abuelita’s house. It has worked well and it’s certainly served it’s purpose but it’s been falling apart for quite some time. And when I say falling apart I mean it literally. If you dared move it the wrong way it would come apart. Proof? This is what it looked like by the time I got it out the door.
It was high time that we got a new coffee table. But this one needed to be functional. It couldn’t just be there. When I went to Sauder looking for a piece of furniture I knew that it was going to be a coffee table. I was thrilled to see that they made it easy to find exactly what I was looking for.
Since we were in desperate need of a coffee table I clicked on “Tables + Night Stands” and then from there I was able to filter it even more.
I of course chose “coffee tables” and that’s when I saw it–exactly what we were looking for a coffee table that was functional. A coffee table that had storage!
And not just storage but a life top making it an easy place to work, eat, color, craft, etc. This is where my favorite feature of the website came into play I was able to view the table with a 360 angle! It was awesome! I love the details of the Carson Forge Collection Lift Top Table. The Washington Cherry color was also right up our alley style wise and fit in with our other pieces of furniture!
When the box arrived I was a little nervous it was HEAVY. But I figured heavy was good because it meant SOLID and sturdy! Which when you have two kids is very important! I had asked B to put it together and then I decided that *I* had to put it together! What better way to see how easy (or not easy) something was to put together than doing it yourself.
I decided to put it together on a Sunday afternoon with both kids under foot. I really had no choice since they’re almost always both under foot! There were A LOT of pieces and at first I was nervous but once I started going through the directions I realized it wasn’t hard at all! Overall it probably took me two hours to complete BUT I think it would have taken much less time if B was home to take the kids or if I would have waited for them to go to sleep. It took me so long because I was letting them help and then also attending to their needs throughout the process.
Once it was done I was SO proud of myself and when B got home he was super proud of me. He gave me this look and then said “You put that together all by yourself?! GREAT JOB!”.
I absolutely ADORE this table. The lift top is perfect for when B and I want a late night snack in front of the TV or for when I’m working on the computer.
We got baskets to fit underneath for a “cleaner” look.
And YES those are two different colored baskets. Mama needs to head back to the store and exchange one. Shopping with kids makes you flustered and also apparently makes it hard to realize you have two different baskets ;). Which one should I keep? The one on the right or the one on the left?
Right now we’re using it for media storage. Easy access to DVDs and the perfect storage for remotes when not in use!
There are so many different ways we can use it though and I’m not convinced I’ll keep it for media storage.
Which way do you think I should use it?
Desk? Craft Station? Cold Weather Storage (think tissues, blankets, pillows)?
