Okay. I’m going to say it right now.
I just did a tiny bit of click bait.
For everyone who came over expecting to see some beautiful home office with cutesy decor that inspires ones creativity on a daily basis, I’m sorry this is not that.
I don’t even have an office. Just a laptop computer that travels with me based on the needs of myself and most importantly my children. Up until recently everything that would typically be in an office for a Blogger/Doula/Oiler was scattered all over my house. But then I got smart.
Back in August I got a Sauder Lift Top Coffee table. At first we used it for DVD storage because our previous set up had made it super easy for Kyla to take out every DVD from the cabinets and scatter them throughout the floor. Mason used to do the same. When we moved the DVDs to under the lift top table the problem actually became worse. Whenever I had the lift top up while working on the computer the DVDs would end up everywhere.
Then it occurred to me that this coffee table isn’t meant to hold DVDs, not for our family. Instead it was the perfect little office for me.
At first I wanted to show you all a picture of my life top table with my computer on top and everything looking pristine. I tried to get the kids out of the way, I moved the toys and they moved them back. And then I thought ya know what? This is real. THIS is my “office” it’s working with kids at my feet, kids playing loudly near me, tripping on toys and wiping faces in between sentences.
This is how I work. This is the office of an everyday stay at home Mom who blogs and has a million things on her plate.
So here’s my office or rather coffee tabled turned desk tour.
The bottom of the table had two open spaces which I purchased baskets for. One basket holds art supplies and learning tools for Mason and Kyla. Using it for the kids Arts & Crafts was almost the way I decided to use the entire thing. They have enough arts and crafts that it would have worked at beautifully. And I can promise you that once I have a REAL office that’s exactly how I will use this!
The other baskets holds printer paper, USB cords, chargers, a mini lamp and my camera when it’s not in use. It’s reminiscent of the “junk drawer”.
In the lift top storage I have everything else that P need.
This part is consistently interchanged with other necessities. It’s where I keep my Essential oils when I’m not using them and all my Essential Oil reference books for easy access. You can also find my Gold Polka Dotted Purple binder where I keep all my Doula client information and my planner. I keep my books that are next on my reading list for my Doula Training. And quite honestly it’s where I put my mail when it’s been piling up for weeks and I have friends coming over.
