When I was younger people used to ask me if I was going to grow up and be "just like my Mom" and what they meant by that was, have seven kids. I would reply to them quite violently that I would NEVER EVER be like my Mom and at times I would even say that I wanted no kids at all! But deep down I don't think I ever thought that was true. For me those gifts that I got where from my parents, they were my siblings.
This is us + B, my parents, Mason and Kyla – one of my brothers.
There are seven of us. I'm the oldest. I wanted a little brother so badly and I finally got one when I was 6 years old. I was incredibly jealous of him despite the fact that I wanted him so badly. Then I got three more sisters and two more brothers.
There are times where I think "Well darn things would be so much easier finacially if there were only 2 of us". But then my Mom would say to me "Which one do you want to give back?". And my answer was always clear. None of them. They're all so special and important to me.
And it's because of them, that even though I used to say I would never be like my Mom in regards to children that I want four children. I want my son to have a brother and my daughter to have a sister.
The gift of siblings has not only been amazing for me growing up but has inspired me in my own family life and for that I'm forever grateful!
