This is NOT a sponsored post. I purchased the FitBit with my own money!
It’s been a while since I did a Flab to Fab Friday. For a while I stopped doing them because well I wasn’t doing anything to get even close to fab. So I figured why bother? But all that changed when I made a New Year’s Resolution to lose the baby weight and get fit, if you follow me on Instagram or Twitter you’ve probably seen a bit of my journey. On January 6th I started the Bikini Body Mommy Challenge and it was great. I start my second round on May 5th and will give a more in depth run down another time. But first it’s a Fitbit review.
It took a bit to decide what Fitbit I wanted and if I wanted a Fitbit at all or if I wanted to go with the Polar Loop or the Up by Jawbone. Ultimately I decided that I wanted to go with FitBit because of the amount of Fitbit users that I knew. I liked the sense of community when I searched #Fitbit.
Back to Bikini Body Mommy for a second while I lost many inches (10+) I had only lost 4lbs in over 60 days of the program. I know, I know inches are good and I shouldn’t pay attention to the scale but I can’t help it, I’m a scale girl!
Within the first two weeks of using my Fitbit daily I had lost 4.2lbs.
Almost a month later to the day and I’ve lost a total of 10lbs since the starting my weight loss journey.
Fitbit Community
I truly believe that the reason I’ve seen such a difference in the amount of weight of lost (double) what I lost in the first 75 days on Bikini Body Mommy is because of the Fitbit. It’s inspired me to move more. But what’s really inspired me to move more is the sense of community. I have a group of women that I’m friends with and me and one girl in particular and I have a friendly competition going on and we push each other every single day to move more!
Is the Fitbit Accurate?
Some may say that I’m a little obsessive but in multiple situations I watched my Fitbit on my app and counted the steps I’ve taken. I’ve found that it’s reasonably accurate when I’m walking and also accurate when I’m using a stroller or grocery cart.
Why the Flex?
You may notice that Fitbit has multiple different options like the One and Zip. Ultimately I went with the Flex because I liked the idea of being able to wear it one my wrist. It’s not exactly the coolest bracelet in the world but it certainly is functional!
Fitbit Dashboard
You set your own goals on Fitbit. For me I have a 10,000 step goal. I also have a goal of 30 active minutes and 2,200 calories burned. My distance goal is 4 miles. Typically I surpass my goals by at least 2K steps but you can see here that today I passed my step count goal by 15.5K for a total of 25,568K thousands step in one day.
On the right of my dashboard you can also see the leader board. My step count was so high today thanks to my friendly competition with “E” who you can see is just behind me after spending all day whooping my butt!
With the Flex you can track your progress in three ways. One of which is pretty basic. You tap the screen and a series of 5 lights will light up as you progress towards your goal. For example my goal is 10 thousand steps each light represents 2 thousands steps. As I progress towards 2 thousand steps the first light blinks, once I hit 2 thousand steps the first light becomes solid and the second light starts to blink. It follows that pattern until you which your goal at which point the bracelet vibrates.
Features
Other than counting your steps, miles, active minutes and calories burned it also:
- Tracks your sleep
- Silent alarm
- Tracks Calorie intake
- Tracks Activities
- Tracks Weight
- Records Water intake
The only two features I don’t really use is tracking my activities and calorie intake. I think it still needs some improvement in the calorie intake portion which I’m sure will get better over time!
Bottom Line?
I love love love my Fitbit and highly recommend it if you’re looking for something to help you stay accountable! The Fitbit Flex retails for $99.00 and in my honest opinion it’s worth every single penny! BUY IT! NOW! You won’t regret it!

This looks like it would be so much fun. I’m really trying not to track how much I exercise, I want my daily exercise to be fun instead of a huge numbers game. Counting calories consumed and burned never really works well for me. The geeky side of me really would love all these stats though!
