I’m the oldest of 7 kids. The next in line is 6 years younger then me. The next one is 10 years younger then me, then 11, then 13, 18, and 21. I’ve had a lot of experience with kids and I know that you have to go with the the flow a lot of times but even then there are things that I swore I would never do.
One of them? Picking my child’s nose. What’s wrong with using a tissue?! Well as most mom’s know, while there is nothing wrong with using a tissue not only can it be ineffective but when your child is screaming and crying for you to get the booger and there is no tissue in sight you do what you gotta do and you get that booger with your finger. You throw up a little in your mouth and then you frantically search for a tissue.
Another thing I swore I’d never do? Sleep in a bed that has been peed in. And I’m sure many many of you would agree. It’s disgusting.
When Mason was younger if he ever had a leak in his diaper I would immediately get up change him, console him, tear the sheets off the bed, get fresh ones and an hour or so later I’d be back in bed. Mason was a late riser and it wasn’t a big deal.
And then Kyla came and I had the audacity to potty train Mason just a month or two before she was born. As most mothers will tell you new babies usually bring on regression when it comes to potty training.
And then it happened. Mason and Kyla were both in bed with me and Mason was sleeping in his underwear for one of the first times when I started to hear him stir. And then I felt it. Warmth on the left side of my body where Mason was. He had peed. All over himself, all over me and all over my bed. So I stood him up. Took off his undies. Reached over to the nightstand, grabbed some wipes wiped him down and patted at my bed. Then I carefully climbed out of the bed making sure not to wake Kyla who would be up shortly so that I could change the sheets. And as I climbed out of bed Kyla started to stir and I realized that if I picked her up to change the sheets she would wake up by the time I was done with making the bed it was quite possible she’d be screaming. Waking up the whole house (Mason was already back asleep). So I did what I had to do, what I thought I’d never do and I grabbed two towels, laid them down across the wet spot, laid back down and I went back to sleep with a bed full of pee.
Judge away, I have judged me too. In the morning I woke up, head hung in shame as I changed the sheets. But sometimes when you’re tired you do what you have to do.
Luckily, I was introduced to GoodNites bed mats and I won’t have to do something like this again!

Oh these sound wonderful! We pretty much have Carter day trained, but not at night. This would make accidents so much easier! I will have to look for some of these!
