So we finally did it! We gave little Miss Kyla a middle name!
We actually decided the Thursday before Good Friday but we still had to tell family and then quite honestly I forgot that all of you didn’t know that she had a middle name.
We struggled between a few different names.
- B’s First Name
Some of you may remember that I really wanted Kyla’s middle name to be Elena after her sister. From the second I found out we were having a girl I just knew her middle name would be Elena. Unfortunately when I decided to share this with B he felt strongly that Elena and Kyla should have their own names. I reluctantly agreed for multiple reasons one of which being having a middle name that started with E and a last name that started with G meant your initials could spell SO many things like KEG or LEG or VEG.
Anyway. The one name I didn’t mention above was the one that we actually went with.
We officially have a Little Miss Kyla Ainslee
I can’t believe she’s already a month old, time goes way too quickly! Sometimes I look at her and can’t believe she’s already a month old. But at the same time it feels like she’s always been here, that she was always meant to be in our lives.
So far everything has been going fairly well. Mason is absolutely testing his boundaries and isn’t always nice to his sister (he’ll hit her and run or pull her leg etc) but believe it or not you can still tell how much he loves “his baby”. He always want to hug her and kiss her and “pet” her. If he’s being to rough and I pull him away he screams “I JUST WANTED TO PET HER!”. He’s seriously hilarious. I need to do a major update on him!
As you can see Kyla is gaining weight nicely (she was 7lbs 13oz and 7lb 7oz three days later). The weight above is approximate, I just jumped on the scale and weighed myself and then weighed myself holding her and subtracted. Pretty genius huh?
As far as the rest of those milestones go:
According to What to Expect by One Month your baby should be able to…(Kyla does everything in bold)
Lift head briefly when on stomach on a flat surface
Focus on Face
…will probably be able too
Respond to a bell in some way, such as startling, crying, quieting
…may possibly be able to
life head 45 degrees when on stomach
vocalize in ways other than crying (cooing)
simile in response to your smile (she just did this yesterday for the first time, which means she was one day over 1 month. We’ll see if it was a fluke or not)
…may even be able to
life head 90 degrees when on stomach
hold head steady when upright
bring bother hands together
