Like any first time mother when I got pregnant for the first time with Mason I was worried about everything. I found out very early that I was pregnant with Mason (6 weeks) so of course I worried about miscarriage but as time went on I began worrying about the things that I saw my mother go through: c-sections, premature deliveries and most of all diabetes.
My mother had Gestational diabetes with me and she was really young when she had me (20). With every subsequent pregnancy (6 more) she had gestational diabetes as well. When she got pregnant with Ava the doctors told her that it wasn’t gestational diabetes at all, that she had most likely developed diabetes before getting pregnant with Ava and it was only more pronounced because of the pregnancy.
With her having gestational diabetes we knew that her chances for developing diabetes was higher but it still threw us for a loop. My mom isn’t “old”, she’s young! Too young to have diabetes. So I’m sure that you all can see why I was so fearful. Luckily I did not have gestational diabetes and I’m determined to make sure that I do everything I can to not only avoid gestational diabetes but also diabetes.
One of the best ways that I can do this by taking care of myself, eating well and staying fit. November is National Diabetes Awareness Month and Bob Greene (Oprah’s personal trainer and health and wellness expert) is taking time this montht to share nutrition and fitness tips and share products that can help people like my Mom who have diabetes and people like me, who are trying to prevent it.
One of those products is Crystal Farms® Better’n Eggs ® and AllWhites®
Crystal Farms® Better’n Eggs ® and AllWhites® are fat-free, cholesterol-free, and low-calorie. This is huge for my Mom, she’s a big egg eater but all the extra cholesterol is no good for her diabetes. They have so many great recipes that you can use as inspiration using the products to help her make some changes in her diet which should improve her diabetes! I love the way this Breakfast Egg Roll Recipe looks:
But she’d probably be better off using Bob Greene’s Best Life approved recipes.
