When football seasons starts I know right away what the next couple of months are going to look like when it comes to the weekend. It looks a lot like this.
With me looking like this.
Pick a room in our house, any room at all and it’ll be tuned to a sports station either talking about the games or playing the games. I’ll admit that I’ve planned many weekend activities around when football games were on. If B’s favorite team is playing you can bet that he’s not doing anything but watching the big game. There have been numerous mornings were I’ve woken up to B already being in the shower and the smell of Head & Shoulders Classic Clean Shampoo. Many of times I’ve gotten excited! Where are we going today?! Then I see what he’s wearing, a football jersey. And I remember. It’s football season. It’s a Sunday. I’m a football widow.
Don’t get me wrong I don’t not like football, I enjoy it but when it’s all you hear about for a couple of months it gets a little old so I do all I can not to be a football widow. I make my pearly whites sparkling and bright with the Oral B Vitality toothbrush, I even use toothpaste so my breathe isn’t horrendous like it normally is when I wake up in the morning.
I even put on make up which is a pretty big deal when you’re very pregnant, have a two week old or heck if you’re a mom in general. I make my lashes nice and long with Covergirl LashBlast Mascara.
Everyone knows how awesome women look when they apply mascara so if you can get your man to see you applying it you’ll barely even have to convince him to stay, he’ll want to do it on his own. But if that doesn’t work, I bat them at him hoping it will convince him that staying home with me and the kids (who don’t actually want to watch the big game) is the best thing for him to do, the way he’ll have the most fun.
I figure if my teeth are brushed, I put on real pants instead of yoga pants and wear make up that surely B will stop, pay attention and decide that he doesn’t need to go to the big game instead he’ll stay home with us! But no. It doesn’t work that way. Not only does he not pay a lick of attention (PRE-GAME IS ON!!) but he doesn’t even bother to use the Gillette Fusion ProGlide to shave.
I think he thinks that I don’t like the bread but the truth is, I do, so I’ll continue to work hard to not be a football widow and win his attention over the big game. I’m not sure it will ever work but I won’t give up. At least not yet! Before long football season will be over, the Gillette Fusion ProGlide will be used and I’ll have our family weekends back. Until then I’ll embrace our current traditions for gameday.
