But that doesn’t mean that playing outside is totally off limits. Not yet at least. It can get really cold in VA but never cold enough to wear you can’t go outside, all you have to do is bundle up a bit! NY is another story and rumor has it that Vermont is a WAY different story. I was talking to a friend the other day who said 30s was warm for her. I. would. die. That is just way too cold. I digress.
Mason on the other hand LOVES being outside. When he was an infant if I couldn’t get him to calm down I would step outside and he would instantly calm down. I think it started in the womb when this one time I went outside bundled up like a crazy person because I didn’t have a winter coat that fit over my big belly which wasn’t a big deal since I rarely ventured into the cold, we had record snows that year y’all it was COLD!

Shortly after this picture was taken I went inside and made some hot chocolate. While Mason is obsessed with being outside…me? Not so much. Sure it’s nice and all but in the dead of winter I like to be curled up with some hot chocolate, heat and blankets and in the middle of summer I’d prefer to be inside in the air conditioning! But I am a mother and being a mother comes first so I do make an effort to get outside with Mason and have a bunch of activities planned for Fall that involve being outside:
- Pumpkin Picking
- Trips to the Park (Mason’s favorite thing to do is go down the slide)
- Daily Walks
- Nature Walk in the park by our house
- Painting Outside (cause painting inside would be disastrous)
- Hikes in the George Washington National Park
- Farmer’s Market Trips downtown (he loves trying all the different fruits)
