Fall isn’t officially here for another couple of days but with school back in session all around the country it’s never too early to make sure that you have all your winter wellness tools on hand. We take quite a few precautions during the winter months to stay healthy and starting last year we added Elderberry Syrup to the mix. You can purchase it pre-made but I opted to make my own Elderberry Syrup in my InstantPot. InstantPot Elderberry Syrup is super easy to make and takes no time at all!
Start by measuring out 2 cups of dried elderberries and place them in your instant pot with 2 cinnamon sticks and a one inch piece of ginger.
Zest and juice 1 orange and 1/2 of a lemon. Add it to your Instantpot.
Add 6 cups of filtered water. We use this to filter our water!
Set your InstantPot to six minutes on high pressure. When it’s finished do a quick release and turn off your InstantPot. Immediately strain your syrup making sure to get out any excess liquid.
Let cool completely before adding 1 cup of raw honey. It’s important to let it cool completely because you don’t want to cook out the benefits of the raw honey!
After the honey has been stirred in add 1 tablespoon of vanilla extract.
I also love to add 6 drops of Young Living Orange Vitality and 6 drops of Young Living Thieves Vitality. While the oils can be optional they are a must have for our family! They both add a great flavor boost. Thieves Vitality is a vital part of our every day winter wellness routine. It’s an excellent immune support that no family should be without.
Store in an airtight container like a mason jar, in the refrigerator. Adults should take 1 tablespoon daily and children should take 1 teaspoon. If you’re sick take the proper dose every 2-3 hours!
Elderberry Syrup isn’t the only thing we have in a our toolbox for the cooler months! Probiotics, less sugar and this perfect kit are must haves too.
