When Mason was little we used to go camping at least once in the Summer or Fall if not more but it’s been a LONG time since we’ve been camping. The last time we went Kyla was just three months old. Clearly we were long over due. Camping with kids isn’t exactly the easiest thing on the planet, especially when your best friends are coming with you and they too have three kids. Six kids, four adults, we’re outnumbered when camping with kids! Being outnumbered didn’t stop us from camping though. B’s dad had told us about a spot that he had been too. It’s more campground style with bathrooms but we were told it was gorgeous and had two lakes which meant fishing and a nice view. Sure enough he was right.
The first night we woke up and the fog off the lake was UNREAL. I snapped this picture right when it was clearing up. I didn’t realize until after the strip of fog floating up. Looking at it makes me think of a special delivery from the heavens.
I told you the view was amazing. This was Kyla’s first camping trip that she remembers and she was anxious to help, all the kids were which is why I didn’t hear a peep out of them when I asked them to haul the firewood out of my car.
We spent all day Saturday having fun outdoors. The kids woke up itching to go fishing and were thrilled when the fog cleared out so the Daddies could take them!
While the kids were fishing a treasure hunt was being planned. My best friend did an amazing job making it realistic and all the kids had a fun time trying to find it! Then they spent time coloring in the sun.
Next up was our scavenger hunt!
It was a little harder than I had intended since we weren’t quite walking the woods like I thought we would be. Before we knew it it was time for dinner, we served up salmon, green beans, potatoes and mac and cheese. We ate like kings. We had s’mores and these came in handy. We told stories around the campfire. Kyla terrified herself with a story about witches. The kids were so exhausted from the day they practically put themselves to sleep. It was SO cold that second night. I don’t know how we would have survived without this. Emi and I snuggled in next to each other. Mason and Kyla took turns snuggling with B and I. Speaking of Kyla. That girl is crazy! The first night she slept in just a shirt and underwear. Please note, it was not warm either nights and the second night she slept in just a base layer, meanwhile EVERYONE else had at least two layers on in addition to their sleeping bags and blankets! The next morning wasn’t nearly as foggy and we enjoyed the view while packing up.
It was a cold morning so the kids huddled around the fire.
Shortly after taking that picture I realized I didn’t grab one of all the kids so we rounded them up and took what I’m sure will be an annual picture for these cuties.
Kyla wasn’t too happy about having to go home.
But we promised her we’d come back.
We can’t wait for our next camping with kids adventure. Because when it’s with kids, it’s always an adventure.

Such a great ideas for keep kids entertained and make them get to know nature and all her beauties. I was wondering, how Kyla liked her first night of sleeping outside that she remember?
