If you know me in real life or you’ve been following my blog you should know that I’m originally from New York but have been living in Virginia on and off for about 11 years now. When I was younger I always talked about how I would never leave the county I grew up in, Rockland, particularly North Rockland. I always felt that it was a great place to grow up. Somewhere over the years it changed. I grew to love Harrisonburg, Virginia.
I really love that place. It’s a college town which helps to provide some of the amazing things we can do with our children during the week and on the weekend like the Planetarium on campus or the awesome plays being held at the Forbes Center. But this post isn’t about Harrisonburg, it’s about Rockland County, New York. See over the last 5 years I don’t think I’ve been giving Rockland County the credit it deserves. Every summer I spend at least two weeks in Rockland but this summer I’m making the most of my time. I’m spending time with friends and family pretty much every single day and trying to experience something that Rockland has to offer. I’ll be in Rockland for another two weeks and over these next two weeks I’m going to share my experiences with you, you’ll recognize these posts because they’ll be entitled “When in Rockland” or “WIR”.
This series of posts will continue as long as I continue to visit Rockland county which will most likely be for the rest of my life since a very large majority of my family lives here despite the fact that I continue to push Virginia on them daily. Located just 30 miles outside of NYC, Rockland has so much to offer–so whether you live here or pass through here you’ll want to hit up some of these awesome spots I’ll be sharing!
