Mason starts school tomorrow. School. Not preschool. School. Kindergarten to be exact! I can’t believe that we’re already at this point. I feel like I should have prepared more for this moment. Feeling overwhelmed with everything I have to do and what’s about to come prompted me to make a huge batch of pancakes. I figured at the very least I can have a quick and easy breakfast for Mason in the next couple of weeks.
I started freezing left over pancakes a couple of years ago, I had a bunch of left over pancakes and I didn’t want them to go to waste. So I froze them. When I reheated them they were still delicious and I knew it was something I’d keep on doing. It’s super easy to do!
How to Freeze Pancakes
Start by making a batch of your favorite pancake recipe. Once they’re cooked let them cool completely on the counter.
Once they’re completely cooled line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. In a single rows lay out your pancakes.
You can make another layer by adding another piece of parchment paper on top of the pancakes and doing another layer of pancakes. Freeze the pancakes for one hour or until completely frozen.
Once the pancakes are frozen add them to a freezer safe bag, get all the air our and seal shut.
How to Reheat Frozen Pancakes
There are multiple ways you can reheat your pancakes. We usually do it 1 of 2 ways depending on how much time we have. The first way you can do it is by popping it in your toaster oven for a couple of minutes. Another way is to wrap your pancakes in a paper towel and put in the microwave for about 10-30 seconds depending on the strength of your microwave. I haven’t tried heating them up in a pan yet but will probably try it soon and update to let you know how it goes.
