When I was in college we had the most amazing food. When I went we were ranked #11 in the nation and last I heard we were at #3. My University is literally in my back yard and sometimes I’m VERY tempted to go on to campus and grab lunch.
What made JMU have such good food? For one we had an amazing amount of choices. From fast food to salad bars we had pretty much everything you could think of, including a peanut butter and jelly bar! Despite the fact that we were all over the age of 18 it was a huge hit and it always stuck with me how much fun it was.
Kyla’s arrival has shook things up for Mason, he’s doing pretty well for the most part but without a doubt between being 3, testing his boundaries and not getting 100% of the attention it’s been rough at times. We try to get out of the house daily and if we’re not getting out (it’s been cold) we like to do fun things even if it’s fun with food.
Enter our family’s version of the Peanut Butter & Jelly Bar!
We had a ton of toppings to choose from
- Blackberries
- Apple Slices
- Banana Slices
- Celery
- Chocolate Chips
- Mini Marshmallows
- Raisins
Other Ideas:
- Graham Crackers (instead of bread)
- Tortillas (instead of bread)
- Fresh Strawberries
- Mason has been insisting on helping out in the kitchen pretty much every time we make his breakfast and lunch so I knew it would be a hit and of course it was!
Mason’s signature peanut butter and jelly is made with Welch’s All Natural Grape Jelly, Peanut Butter, Chocolate Chips and Marshmallows! We love the All Natural Spreads that Welch’s makes they have no high fructose corn syrup, no artificial flavors or colors, and no preservatives.
YES, I know, it’s not the healthiest lunch (thank you chocolate chips and marshmallows) but cross my fingers while I was setting everything up he was eating a ton of blackberries and apples!
April 2nd is National PB & J Day and Welch’s is celebrating by running a Facebook contest, “”. Share with them your creative spin on the classic PB & J and win $500 and a one year supply of Grape Jelly! 50 people will also win a sandwich keeper (perfect for lunch boxes).
Disclosure: I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Welch’s. I received product samples to facilitate my review as well as a promotional item as a thank-you for participating.

Fun! I wouldn’t have thought about adding jelly to peanut butter on celery. I bet it’s delish though and a fun change for the kids. We’ll have to give it a try!

What a wonderful and artistic way to get the picky children involved. This looks really appealing and would work with a casual get together involving children. I love it! Thank you so much for sharing and taking such an awesome picture.
