At 10.5 inches and about 12.7 ounces, she’s big enough now that you’ve probably been feeling her movements. As her digestive system preps for the outside world, she’s manufacturing meconium — the tarry black substance you’ll find in her first dirty diaper (ew)! She’s already got a lifetime’s supply of eggs in her womb — about six million of them!
During month five, the average fetus measures about 10.5 to 11.8 inches and weighs about 12.7 to 20.8 ounces. Now that she’s got more developed eyes and lips, she’s looking even more like a newborn. She’s sleeping in cycles — about 12 to 14 hours per day (hint: they’re probably those times you’re not feeling any kicks!).
How Far Along: 22 Weeks
Due Date: March 13th, 2013
Currently craving: Not much just like always, I’ve been loving Sour Punch Straws and still love salads. Weird craving combos I know.
Currently Avoiding: Meat still isn’t my favorite but I can eat it!
Weight: Too much gained I think but no one has said anything to me—yet
Belly button status: IN!
Sleep grade: I’ve been able to stay up more to my normal time but I’m tired when I wake up especially if I don’t get up and get moving. I’m sleeping okay for the most part I just need to make myself go to sleep earlier, much earlier!
Recent Crazy Dream: I had a dream that one of my July 2012 Moms got pregnant. I’ve also been having nightmares again but I can’t specify what exactly happens just that I way up and I don’t like it at all.
Evidence of pregnancy brain: None this week. <—just remembered one, I keep forgetting to update a post with the correct link—going to do that no!
Symptoms?: Holy heartburn. It’s pretty much non-stop. If I eat I get heartburn, if I don’t eat I get heartburn. It’s just constantly there. I also have all these crazy aches and pains and it seems way too early for it. I think it has a lot to do with the fact that I’m older and mostly heavier than either of my previous pregnancies!
Health: So far so good. My last two appointments my cervix has measured at around 4.0 which is still a great length although shorter than two weeks ago but apparently that’s relatively normal as I get further along. I know that with Mason at around 26w3d my cervix was measuring at 3.5 so. My doctors are pretty confidant that I don’t have any cervical issues which means we really don’t know what happened with Elena’s pregnancy. My one doctor seems to think that it was a negligent infection. I do think that it was an infection but I hate using the world negligent for it, makes me feel like I should have known, like I’m a bad mom for not knowing that something was wrong with my body.
Movement: All. The. Time. I LOVE it. I’m pretty sure I’ve even felt her from the outside. I can’t wait for Mason and B to feel her too! It will be soon!
Any appointments?: I had one on Monday and like I mentioned my cervix looks good. I stopped in today to get my p17 shot and then my next appointment is on Tuesday. That will be my 23 Week appointment then I have another cervical scan at 24 weeks. Then cervical scans at 26,28 and 32. Hopefully those all look good as well!
Any baby related purchases?: I think I bought a maternity shirt that I’m actually going to have to resell because it was a little too small due to the fabric or my enormous boobs. One of those. I really need to food a nice shelf to get so that I can start organizing where the baby is going to sleep. I’ve been trying to get B to take apart the crib and move it into the other room but he’s been procrastinating while telling me we need to get moving but I can’t “get moving” until he gets moving lol.
Best thing to happen in the past week/ Worst: Best thing is the increased movement I’ve been feeling. “Worst” and I use that term lightly of course is lightening crotch. I’ve never had it before and OMG it hurts!
I’ll update later with a picture! I want to have B take a full length one and he’s not home right now. But in case you were wondering I’m getting bigger LOL
