Have you met my dog Cash? No? Let me introduce you, this is Cash.
Before you ask:
Yes, he’s a pitbull.
Yes, he’s a good dog.
No, he’s not going to snap and eat you or my kiddos.
The second that B and I found out that I was pregnant he started talking about getting a dog. He couldn’t imagine having a family without a dog. He grew up with dogs and even though I did too I was a little less set on the idea of getting a dog right then and there. I figured that we had enough on our plates since we were going to be welcoming a baby into this world. B won the “argument” though and when I was about 5 months pregnant we drove to the airport to pick him up. He was just three months old.
Cash was a big dog right from the beginning (look at those paws!!) but I think he thinks he’s a little dog. He was so nervous driving home in the car that it wasn’t long before I found him on my lap. I think that’s the moment I fell in love with him. When he already felt so comfortable with me that he’d sit on my lap and let me comfort him.
Cash is now 7 years old. Mason, Kyla and Emilia have spent their entire lives with Cash around, he’s a part of our family. He totally lives up to being a “nanny dog”. When I’m pregnant he follows me around and sits in front of me guarding the most vulnerable people in the house. Once the baby is born he stands guard by sitting or laying in front of them every time someone new comes over. He’s kind and gentle with our kids. He loves to run around and play while we’re all outside as a family. He loves us just as much as we love him.
As the rest of the year continues I’ll be sharing with you all more about Cash and how much he means to our family, he doesn’t get enough airtime around here, a part of my partnership with Beneful. I’m so excited to be #FriendswithBeneful and share their reformulated line of dry dog food, their Dream Dog Park program and more. Be on the look-out for some guest appearances on Instagram and Facebook of all our Friends With Beneful goodies.
