I recived a sample of Mother Bruce via Disney Publishing. All prizing for the giveaway are provided by Disney Publishing.
Lately I’ve been judging books by their cover. Okay, I’ve always done that. I know you’re not suppose to but I can’t help it. To be honest I’m glad I do. The cover of this book is exactly why I decided I wanted to check it out and cover it here! That poor bear looks perplexed and those little goslings look adorable! We were so excited when it arrived earlier this week. It’s always exciting to have a new book to read at bedtime!
Bruce the bear likes to keep to himself. That, and eat eggs. But when his hard-boiled goose eggs turn out to be real, live goslings, he starts to lose his appetite. And even worse, the goslings are convinced he’s their mother. Bruce tries to get the geese to go south, but he can’t seem to rid himself of his new companions. What’s a bear to do?
The kids and I couldn’t stop giggling as we read through the book. We loved that the goslings followed “Mother Bruce” all around and even copied the way he walked.
I got a HUGE kick out of the fact that “Mother Bruce” was wearing his babies!
And boy does he have it right when he says that parenting is hard work!
The author of the book Ryan T. Higgins is also the illustrator and is extremely talented on both ends. The illustrations where gorgeous throughout the book. Learn more about Ryan T. Higgins here.
