Easy DIY Hair Mask

For the most part I love Summer! I love not having to bundle up. I love flip flops and shorts, swimming and warm summer nights. What I don’t love? Humidity. My hair spends the majority of summer frizzy and huge, sleek hair? Not at all.

I was talking to a friend from California and we were talking about hair, frizz and humidity. You know how people in certain parts of California always seem to have good hair days all year long? Yea, that’s because there’s no humidity for some odd reason the good hair days and no humidity didn’t even occur to me. I guess it’s just because I’m used to having “good” hair days even with humidity! Of course my good hair day looks nothing like their good hair days!

To add insult to injury I have curly hair which naturally can be pretty darn frizzy. I LOVE hair masks to help keep my hair strong, soft and healthy. I’ve bought a few different hair masks at the story but I love my easy diy hair mask. For a one time treatment combine 1/4 cup coconut oil, 8 drops lavender essential oil and 5 drops cedarwood essential oil. Apply a generous amount throughout your hair making sure it’s completely coated. Not only will this hair mask deep condition your hair but it will also help with hair growth.

I recommend leaving this on for at least 2-4 hours but my favorite way to use this mask is by throwing my hair in a pony tail after application, putting a shower cap over my head and letting it set in while I sleep.

When you’re finished rinse well, comb and style as usual.

Since I have curly hair, in addition to a hair mask I need good daily maintenance too. It’s necessary in order to minimize the frizz effect. The first part in my daily maintenance is by *not* washing my hair every day. I do however always use conditioner, my hair needs it! Without conditioner my hair feels brittle and is super knotty. Anyone else deal with knotty hair all the time? This coconut hair mask is good for knotty hair too. WIN.

When it comes to daily maintenance for frizz free smooth hair, Pantene Pro-V is a go to for me. I love the way it smells!

The “Smooth & Sleek” version is “anti-frizz” which I love! I love how thick the conditioner is, it coats my hair perfectly. I like to let it sit for 5-10 minutes while I shave my legs (or enjoy the peace and quiet that is so rare these days) so that I can really let it soak in and make my hair super smooth.

What’s your go-to shampoo and conditioner for daily gorgeous hair maintenance?
