When I was in High School the drama department put on Into the Woods. It was the first High School play I’ve ever been too and I was so impressed with how good it was! Clearly I was impressed, I still think about it today. When I saw that Disney was making a film adaption of the play I was so excited. I love fairy tales, I love Disney and I love musicals.
Iconic characters, such as Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk and Rapunzel, find their fates intertwined with a humble baker and his wife, whose longing to have a child sends them on a quest to reverse a witch’s (Streep) curse. With an all-star cast, this spellbinding adventure is everything you could ever wish for!
When we got the movie I was so excited to see it but I was also nervous that Mason wouldn’t be interested for a variety of reasons the main one being that it wasn’t animated. However it became clear that it not being animated didn’t matter at all. Mason absolutely loved it. Since it’s a little different than what he’s used to he had a lot of questions and found it to be a bit silly. It was fun talking to him about all the different characters and watching his delight as he saw them interact together. It was also interesting to see how well he knew the fairy tales explored in Into the Woods.
As for me I enjoyed it as well. The All-Star cast was amazing but Meryl Streep just steals the show, she is crazy talented. Speaking of Meryl Streep, there are so many bonuses included and I love this deleted scene of Meryl Streep singing a song that was written for her but eventually cut from the movie.
