We have been battling an ant infestation. It was getting ridiculous. So ridiculous that we finally broke down and called pest control.
They came.
TWICE.
And still we had ants. Lots of ants so I knew that it was high time I figured out how to get rid of ants on my own. Luckily my local crunchy moms group were talking about the topic and they linked me to this simple solution.
You’ll Need:
- 1/2 Cup Sugar
- 1 1/2 Tablespoons Borax
- 1/2 Cups Warm Water
- Paper Towel Strips
- Lids
- Mason Jar or Mixing Bowl
Directions:
- In a Mason Jar whisk together 1/2 cup sugar, 1 1/2 tablespoons Borax and 1/2 cup warm water.
- Cut your paper towels into strips and fold into the lids. We used milk caps and drink caps that were already in our recyclables container. Carefully spoon the Borax mixture onto the paper towels.
- Leave the “traps” in the place you see the ants most frequently.
It sounded far too good to be true. But I figured it was CHEAP and easy so I had nothing to lose. I posted on Instagram when the ants first started to find the solution.
Within 24 hours my homemade trap was mostly empty except for one lonely dead ant.
And I’m happy to report that I haven’t had an ant crawl on me in days.
Mission accomplished.
I hope this works just as well for you! Let me know!
