The Maxi Cosi Mico AP is brand new on the market and I’m so excited that I was one of the first people to get to try it out! I will being doing a more in depth review next week but for now I want to give you my first impressions of the seat. I’m lucky enough to also have the Maxi Cosi Mico so I can really compare the two seats.
The Look and Feel
As soon as I lifted the Maxi Cosi Mico AP out of the box I was amazed out how light it was. The Mico is also very light but just by looking at them it would seem that the AP is heavier but that doesn’t seem to be the case and if it is it’s only slightly different. I almost instantly put the two car seats side by side to compare the two by looks
The first thing I noticed was that the Maxi Cosi Mico AP appears to be more “plush” than the Maxi Cosi Mico. The canopy portion is also different. The AP has a little bit more of a shade in the very front. The shoulder pads are also slightly different.
The main difference is the technology that the Maxi Cosi Mico AP has which is the Air Protect in the heah rest hence the “AP” in the name!
Ease of Install
We used the LATCH system for install.
The base was relatively easy to install into my car*. As with any car seat I had to sit on it to get it tight enough. This is pretty typically of most car seats that I install so it wasn’t an issue for me. I’m short so its relatively easy to do so. Someone taller with a little bit more leverage would probably be able to just use their knee to push down and tighten the LATCH where it needs to be in order not move an inch either front to back or side to side.
Before snapping the car seat into the base you want to make sure that you adjust the harness straps. It adjust easily in the back with a threading method that was easy to use.
With the Mico sometimes I would have a hard time getting the car seat to attach to the base but I’ve had no issues with the AP so far!
How Kyla likes it
So far Kyla seems to like her new car seat. It’s easy to get her in and out of and it seems to be very comfortable for her! I’ll update further next week!
Check Back next week to see how the car seat is fairing in active use and to learn more about the NEW Maxi Cosi AP
