The closer we get to the end of this pregnancy the more Mason has been acknowledging my belly and the baby inside of it. It’s so fun to see him “interact” with his baby sister and I’m excited to see what it will be like when she actually arrives.
But I do wonder how he will take it. He knows there is a baby in there but I’m not entirely sure that he understands what it means for him and for our entire family. With Elena he knew there was a baby in my belly but he never got to meet that baby so I’m sure that didn’t help. He probably thinks babies stay in their mommies bellies forever!
The other day we were getting ready for bed time and I asked Mason if he wanted to be there when his baby sister was born and he said “Yes!” and then he got this mischievous little grin on his face and continued
“And then I can punch her! In her arm, her face, her leg, her eye” etc etc until he named pretty much every body part. All I could think was uh oh we have a problem
Now he has never said that again and I don’t think he would really do those things but it did motivate me even more to get him a little something when she arrives not from us but from HER.
Now everyone knows that the quickest way to a man’s heart is through his stomach and this applies to toddler boys as well especially if there is chocolate involved. Mason LOVES getting mail, every time we get a package (thank you blogging and Amazon Obsession) he says to us in a sing songey voice “Is that for me?!”. So I came up with the idea to send him a Rocky Mountain Chocolate Covered Sampler from Proflowers.com
There is always an option to send a card so I included a card that said
You’re going to be the best big brother ever and I can’t wait to meet you!
Your Baby Sister
When it arrived we made a BIG deal of the fact that it was a package especially for him which of course he was beyond excited about
We opened up the box and it had two boxes in it
and inside each box each cookie and pretzel was wrapped individually
I read Mason the card and then let him pick a special treat! He was SO excited
“My BABY sister got me chocolate!!!”
I asked him if I could have one too and we bother ate some Chocolate Covered Graham crackers. They were DELICIOUS
The chocolate covered Oreos and Pretzels were delicious too!
And the idea of having his Baby Sister sending him something before she got her has worked like a Charm. Last week we went to an appointment and a little girl was eating a chocolate and he told her ALL about how his baby sister got him chocolates.
Another time B had one without asking him and Mason yelled at him “You can’t eat my chocolates!!! My baby sister gave those to me!!!”
And just last night we were taking a bath together and he hugged my tummy and I told him he could talk to his baby sister if he wanted and he told her “Thank you for my chocolates, baby sister!”
It was TOO cute and I HIGHLY suggest doing something like this for your older children if you’re expecting another one soon. And remember, you can’t go wrong with chocolate!
