Mason Monday: Mommy/Son Date Ideas?

We’re all about the number three this year.

It’s 2013.

Mason will be three. We’re having our third child in the 3rd month.

Apparently 3 is going to be my new lucky number!

So in 10 days my little boy is going to be 3! Where in the world has the time gone?

On Saturday B went to his Dad’s shop to help fix up the trooper we’re buying from him. So Mason and I hung out all day just the two of us and when I got a craving for pizza Mason came along for the ride and we had a little “date”.

I took this picture of him while he was eating cheese pizza and I don’t know why but for me it really shows how big he is getting. I can’t believe how big he is.

Luckily we still get ample cuddling done at night. He sleeps with me and many times on TOP of me. But when I go to bed every night I see this:

It’s Mason in my Comfort U Maternity Pillow.  All cozy and cute than cuter. I swear he sleeps in it more than I do. He’s lucky I love him because that thing is comfy and I REALLY need it at this point in my pregnancy.

Speaking of my pregnancy. Today I got a picture of Mason kissing my belly aka Baby3.

He goes so fast that this was the best picture I got. But hey it’s still a picture 🙂

This week has been fairly uneventful. I’ve been tired and Mason is still recovering from a cough so we’ve been taking it easy. Today B took him outside since it wasn’t too cold and they ran two laps around a little track at the elementary school so it seems as though he’s getting over it!

The one thing that’s really getting to me, Mason related,  is that Mason is going to be three soon and soon another baby will be here. We’re closing in on the last couple of weeks that Mason will be an only child. Yes, technically he isn’t an only child right now but he doesn’t live the life of a “real” big brother and soon he will be.

I’ve been having these crazy feelings. I want this baby more than anything. I would love to have Mason and Elena AND this baby on the way. At the same time I can’t help but wonder what it’s going to be like with two, how life is going to change for all of us but especially for Mason.  2+ Moms, tell me it’s going to be okay.

I want to have a weekly date with him until the baby comes and then continue to once the baby gets here, although I’m thinking once a month will be more likely once she gets here.

My date with my son is usually on Sunday mornings when we go grocery shopping together. He likes to stop and get lemon bread from Starbucks first, too. I haven’t been able to do it lately because shopping with him is just a little too hard at 35 weeks pregnant, but I really want to keep up special dates once our new baby arrives. A part of me feels really guilty at the thought of taking so much attention away from him, so I think mommy/son dates are even more important now!

That’s how I feel too, really guilty. And it’s weird because I didn’t feel like that at all when I found out I was pregnant with Elena or this baby. I was just excited about having another little one. But now I feel like “poor Mason” his life is going to change so much and it’s going to be really hard for him.

I’m trying to think of ways so that it’s NOT hard for him but at the same time I feel like that’s impossible due to the sheer nature of siblings and having a newborn!
