I swear I’ve been working on Potty Training Mason for months! When I got pregnant with Elena we immediately decided that we needed to get Potty Training with Mason underway, we did NOT want two in diapers. We stalled for a bit because we didn’t quite think he was ready and then Elena passed and everything we read told us not to do it when serious family issues are going on. To be honest I didn’t need any more stress added to my plate either.
Then five short months later I found myself pregnant again with Baby3 and we said the same thing, we need to get Potty Training going again! M has had his moments there were plenty of times were I thought oh he’s totally going to be potty trained soon. And then the next time I put him on the potty he throws an absolute fit, so I think he doesn’t have to go and then he pees on the floor.
And that has been the experience for a couple of months now. It’s slightly exhausting.
Baby3 will be here in about three months. Yes THREE months. And I’m feeling the pressure! We still do not want two in diapers. Plus Mason will be a little over three at this point. I’m not too worried about his age in relation to his potty training but it would still be nice to have fully potty trained so we can put him in a pre-K program come September come the next school year (and I think without a doubt that won’t be a problem).
We decided that we’re going to host a “Why Wait – Let’s Celebrate! First Flush Party!”
Granted Mason has had his first flush plenty of times, just the other day he went poop on the toilet all by himself but I know that having his friends and family around celebrating with him that he’s going on the potty will be a HUGE encouragement for him! I know whenever his friend I is here and he goes on the potty M goes too!
How does the “Why Wait – Let’s Celebrate! First Flush Party” work?
I’ll be inviting all of Mason’s favorite friends over and we’re going to make it all about how awesome the potty is! There will be:
- Potty Training activities
- Party hats and noisemakers to cheer on potty training success
- Exclusive Pull-Ups® Potty Training Fun Celebration App sticker
- Pull-Ups® Training Pants for every Big Kid® at the party
- Pull-Ups® coupon books and more!
- Best part? YOU can host your own party too! Apply here and you will get all the supplies I listed above to host your very own party which will be hosted on or around January 19th 2013!

YAY! I think a party will totally help Mase get using the potty more frequently! Rooting from afar, go Mase go!

Mason sounds just like my son as far as being close to ready but not quite sometimes. We’re having a party too & I hope that gives both our boys the pushes they need!

OMG that is so awesome!! i see that kids love when you celebrate when they do stuff and it makes them want to do it more (positive reinforcement) so this party would be great!

Potty training was my arch enemy for the longest time. We had a really hard time potty training my oldest. Now we are starting the process all over again with my youngest. It is a process. A potty training party sounds like it could be fun… or messy. I will go with fun.

I have to say that for us the best thing that worked was waiting until our son was ready. We were expecting and I didn’t want two in diapers but after a month of fighting I said we are just going to wait. About a month after the baby was born, had just turned 3, I would ask him if he had to go potty and he did all by himself. He even said mommy I don’t need you telling me, I can do it myself. And in the first two weeks we had 5 accidents total and have not had once since! It was worth just waiting for stress alone for us

I can’t tell you how much I disliked the potty training days. Not one of my children was easy to train. With all of them I ended up giving up and letting them figure it out themselves.

This is such a cute idea. It has been a long time since I potty trained, but I do think having family and friends celebrate it would be encouraging. And the kit is so clever!
