When I was pregnant with Mason I had a blog but I really was into it the same way that I am now. I registered for a bunch of stuff based on the Moms I had around me which was mainly MY mom who had just had a baby two years before.
I got a regular travel system that most people get and it was GIGANTIC. I have a tiny car, a Hyundai Elantra. When I put my travel system stroller into my trunk I could barely fit a thing. As Mason got older we started using an umbrella stroller which while smaller was still really long so it was awkward to fit into our trunk.
A couple of weeks before I got pregnant with Elena I went to a baby expo in NYC. Holy Products. Many I had seen before but many I had not. One of those being Quinny. I got to test stroll the Quinny Modd and I loved it. It was so pretty and the colors it came in were so fun! Then I heard about the Quinny Zapp Xtra. You know how they say good things come in small packages? The Quinny Zapp Xtra is one of those things
It EASILY fits in my small little trunk along with a bunch of other stuff that I have.
You unfold it in a couple of steps. First you unbuckle the strap
Next you spread out the back wheels.
Then you press the release handle on the seat and unfold it
You also use it to adjust the recline which you will see later.
Next you press the buttons on the sides of the stroller. Press one first and then two. It will allow you to take the handle and bring it up. Then you just lift up the center of the handle.
This stroller has three positions you can put the seat in. The first is upright that you can see above.
The second is a little more on an angle.
And the third is a completely flat recline! Perfect for a sleeping baby or infants!
It’s even good for a sleeping toddler.
(note he’s not strapped in with this picture but I did strap him after the picture, you should always strap the baby in, asleep or awake!)
Here is Mason sitting up right in the stroller and on the 2nd recline setting:
He prefers the upright position, when he’s in the second position he’s always trying to sit up. The 2nd position is typical of the first position in many other strollers that I have.
Here is a close up of the harness. I really like it because Mason can’t undo it himself!
Folding the stroller is also really simple and it’s what makes the Qunny Zapp different than the Quinny Zapp XTRA! With the Xtra you can fold the seat down WITH the seat attached to the stroller.
Another thing I wanted to note is that it comes with the adapters for the Maxi Cosi Car Seat
Pros:
- Perfect for people with small trunks
- Easy to maneuver in small spaces
- You can fold it down with or without the seat on
- You can have the seat face in towards you OR out
- The seat has three different inclines completely upright, middle of the road and completely flat meaning you can use it from birth.
- It comes with an infant seat adapter that’s compatible with the Maxi Cosi car seat that gets outstanding ratings on Consumer Reports.
- It does everything for a low price point!
And very little that I felt could present a problem!
Cons:
- It’s not very large so if you’re on the taller side the stroller handles may be too low for you
- It doesn’t come with a cup holder
- Unfolding takes some getting used to (at least for me it did)
I mentioned this already but wanted to put it here as well. If you’re doing some research about the Quinny Strollers you might notice that they have a Quinny Zapp. And I’m sure that leaves you wondering what the difference between the Quinny Zapp and the Quinny Zapp Xtra! is. Wonder no more. The main difference between the strollers is that with the Quinny Zapp Xtra you can fold the stroller with the seat attached. With the Quinny Zapp you had to take the seat off. This is a MAJOR improvement in my eyes.
Quinny Zapp Xtra Retails for around $230 on Amazon.
