The other day B and I were talking about the state of our knives. They weren’t sharp AT ALL anymore. So we ran next door to his Dad’s house and got the knife sharpener. The knife that I typically use was able to be sharpened and it made a big difference but when B went to go sharpen his “expensive” knives he all but ruined them.
For some reason the knives which I’m sure were just poorly made, developed jagged edges. We can still use it, as long as we don’t use the bottom of the knife, but even so it became very clear to us that we needed NEW knives immediately and good knives.
Enter Mom Central and Chicago Cutlery. Pretty much the day our bulk of knives got ruined I got offered the chance to try the new DesignPro Knives by Chicago Cutlery. I was beyond thrilled.
We make most of our meals at home trying not to order out or got out to eat as much as possible so we do a lot of cooking at home. I cook normally three meals a day. Although lately I’ve been taking the easy way out (think cereal, oatmeal etc) thanks to the 1st trimester!
Luckily we’re working our way out of the first trimester and I’m beginning to cook again more! Getting the DesignPro knives now is pretty much perfect timing.
I think for the most part my knife skills are pretty good, I wouldn’t say expert or anything like that but (knock on wood) it’s been quite a while since I’ve cut myself so I figure that’s always a good sign right?
The thing that I’ve always struggled with is knowing what type of knife you use for different items like meat, fruit, veggies etc. I’m really hoping that as I continue to use good knives that I learn more about choosing the right knife. I’m also hoping that using sharper knives will help make meals quicker and more efficient especially when it comes to preparing meals with meat in it!
I’ve been using them for about a week now and I’ve already noticed how much sharper they are than my other knives and how much better the grip is. I absolutely love it because it makes me feel more confidant as I slice and dice!
