National Park and Recreation Month, How will you celebrate?!

At least once a week I make sure I bring Mason to one of the local parks we have, there are so many options it’s a little ridiculous.  The beautiful George Washington National Park and the Shenandoah National Park are both just a short drive from our house not to mention the multiple parks that are operated by our city.

Our favorite thing to do is spend the day at the river in the George Washington National Park. It’s usually a couple of degrees colder at the river which makes it that much more enjoyable to swim especially with the recent heat wave. It has been one hot summer!

We also love to go camping. Okay B and Mason love to go camping. I think it’s so so 😉 The food is always delicious though! We haven’t been camping yet this summer. I have a to do list of things we still need to do like go camping and now that Mason is older I want to go hiking. The whole family enjoys hiking especially our dog Cash.

Once when I was in college we hiked to the top of one of the smaller mountains and did yoga as the sun set, it was beautiful and I would absolutely love to do it again!

We love geocaching! We haven’t been active in it for a few years, but now that Mason is more than happy to tag along (and doesn’t need to be carried) we’re back at it again this summer. We’ve been to many local parks in our area that we would otherwise not go to if we weren’t on the hunt for a geocache!
