I <3 my Thanksgiving.
This year for the second year in a row B and I cooked everything and we had his friend JDawg* over, his Dad and his brother here. Everything was so delicious! {*Dawg is the annoying nick name we gave him it is not welcomed by him but B and I think it’s hilarious and Mason says it just fine!}
It’s so nice to be able to make everything yourself and to be able to pick the menu!
This year we started with:
Olive Tapenade and Deviled Eggs
For the main course we had:
Turkey
Ham
Green Bean Casserole
Mashed Potatoes
Broccoli and Cauliflower Au Gratin
Sweet Potato Casserole
Homemade Stuffing
For Dessert We Had:
Pumpkin Pie with a Pecan Topping
Bavarian Pie
Cherry Cobbler
Everything came out so good, we’re already discussing next year’s menu!
Here’s a look at our spread:
It’s so nice and relaxing to be at home the whole day, it also means no cute pictures with your kid because he’s too busy watching Nick Jr. in the comfort of his own home!
Okay so technically the pictures are still cute even if he’s not looking, I mean how could they not be cute, he is in them after all!
So even though we were all comfy, warm and relaxed at home we decided to go out for Black Friday shopping. It was a complete and total failure and we ended up only going to Walmart, it was a HUGE mess and call me naive but I was really surprised I just assumed that because Harrisonburg was a smaller town their would be less competition, we were totally wrong.
The highlight of our Black Friday shopping was when we got stuck in our parking spot for 20 minutes because a milk truck was parked directly behind us. It was even more fun when the women two cars over who was also stuck in her parking spot hollered to us
“You tell that truck driver you got a child with you and I’ll tell him we have a child too. That’s two CHILDS”
Yes, childs. You know the plural of child…
Bless her heart.
So basically our Black Friday was going into Walmart and being bombarded by people, getting coffee at 7-11 and pointing and laughing at all the crazy people in line at Target, Kohl’s and Old Navy. I swear I have NEVER seen so many people in HBurg in my ENTIRE life!
But back to what this post was suppose to be about, Thanksgiving and being thankful. This year I’m thankful for my family, surprises, friends and finding out that I GOT THE JOB!!!!!
