Baby’s 1st Thanksgiving

Whew. I can’t believe it’s over already! We spent a couple of days preparing, figuring out the menu, getting the stuff we needed and cooking and it’s already over!

Normally for Thanksgiving I head to NY but this year I decided to stay in VA and B, Mase and I had our very own Thanksgiving. I’m kinda glad I decided to do that since my family did a a couple of things different this year. Like hosting my Mom’s side of the family instead of my Aunt hosting, or instead of going to my Dad’s family like usual. And my Mom had work. And my Dad, Aunt and Uncle all went to the Jets game! I’m sure they had fun especially considering the outcome!

Anyway we had quite the menu here especially considering that we only had 5 people to feed, not including Mason. We made a Ham, a 22lb Turkey, Green Bean Casserole, Candied Yams, Mashed Potatoes, Corn, Collard/Mixed Greens, Garlic Parmesan Pull Apart Loaves, Deviled Eggs and of course cranberry sauce {does anyone actually eat that?} and I made gravy from the drippings. It came out decently good. I plan on making another batch to see if I can make it come out better!

It was Mason’s VERY FIRST Thanksgiving but Mason Man slept right through the dinner! B’s dad aka Pawpaw came over and was bouncing Mason on his knee and next thing you know Mason is passed out. It worked out because I was able to eat but Mason missed his very first Thanksgiving meal :'( I gave him some turkey when he did wake up but he was a bit of a crank pot so I didn’t force him too much. I don’t think he got enough sleep yesterday especially since I wasn’t able to nurse him as much as usual or make sure he went down for his regular naps.

For dessert we had Chocolate Pudding Pie, Candy Bar Cheesecake, Caramel Pecan Pumpkin Pie {BIG HIT by the way}, Sweet Potato Pie, Ice Cream and an Apple Pudding Pie we didn’t even dip into yet!

Since Mason wasn’t too into the Turkey, yesterday at least I figured I could let him have a little bit of Chocolate pudding pie! At first he took a bit and looked at me like ew Mom what was that. Then he got this look of pure delight on his face and pointed to the fork I was using to feed him. I think he’s in love.

Thanks Mom you’re the best!

Dear Lord I am most thankful for Mommy and Pudding Pie. AMEN!
Enough already! I’m getting a belly ache!

We gave him some Thanksgiving Dinner the next day when he was more awake 🙂

“This stuff is good! Can’t believe I slept through it the first time!”

Gimme that!
